Static in the Dark PDF Print E-mail
I developed visual snow in the dark around the age of 5 or 6. I remember asking my mom what all of the dots I was seeing were when she turned off the lights. At that time she thought I was referring to floaters, and said that many people had them and it wasn't something for me to worry about.
Over the years I questioned if everyone saw this way too. However there was one instance that made me think that maybe they did. Have you ever watched a TV show or a movie where they film a dark scene and the picture looks very staticy? Well, I thought that was because that's how we all see in the dark.
It wasn't until 2005 when I developed worsening symptoms and started seeing the static all the time that I realized that this was not normal.
One interesting point, which may help lead to a treatment in the future, is that there are many people who do say they see static in the dark, yet exhibit no other symptoms for the duration on their lives.
